The details
It is a sign of the prestige of investment house Ruffer that is has attracted Sir David Clementi, former deputy governor of the Bank of England and chairman of Prudential, as deputy chairman.
Why so appealing? Well, Ruffer’s a blue blooded establishment, founded in 1994 by David Ruffer, former chief investment officer of Rathbone Brothers. Viscount Tamworth is a co-founder, as is Jane Tufnell who ran part of NatWest’s pension fund.
Investors are private clients and institutions. The structure is eight open-ended investment company funds, each of which has a distinct focus, such as Japan, gold or global equities, and one investment trust.
Ruffer employs 140 people in London, Edinburgh and Hong Kong. Incidentally, Sir David is also chairman of another Hot 100 member, World First. He sure knows how to pick ‘em.
