Low on overheads, high on margins, consultancy businesses are prime for international expansion. But not all get it right.
Penta Consulting, the IT specialists, is one that has. Winner of numerous international, export and exporting awards, its MD Paul Clark reckons he knows the secrets of taking a business global.
"It depends on having talented people in our head office: multilinguists who handle everything from tax, visas and flights to organising security and providing advice on local culture. They’re an unusual grouping: loads of recent graduates, but also semi-retired people. Older workers have the experience, and they like the flexible hours we provide. I’d say ageist companies are missing a trick here".
