Reports have been coming in over the weekend that Innocent Drinks is poised to sell a stake to Coca-Cola Of course, Innocent is an incredible entrepreneurial story. The founding trio have practically created a whole marketplace – smoothies – and defined a new, values-based entrepreneurial era. But isn’t this the ultimate sell-out, on a par with Anita Roddick selling Body Shop to L’Oreal; or Pret-A-Manger selling a stake to McDonald’s? Or is it simply good business – a realistic assessment that the business will need funds to grow internationally and sustain its future? Also, won’t a sale enable the team to change attitudes within the drinks empire or is that simply wishy-washy, wishful thinking? Your views please…
