Describing Edinburgh-based intelligentpos as a “sales disruptor”, iZettle’s acquisition is in a bid to create a “one-stop-shop” together.
The Swedish firm’s focus had long been on offering a simple way for small businesses to process customer payments through their mobiles, using either a click-in card reader or Bluetooth-enabled chip and pin device.
However, iZettle plans to integrate the intelligentpos’ tech to offer clients thorough point-of-sales features in the hundreds, such as:
Table management to provide restaurants a clear view of table arrangements.
Stock management to keep on top of product availability for customers.
Advance reporting to make decisions based on facts and figures, rather than guesswork.
Intelligentpos was founded in 2013 by CEO Robin Knox and CTO Paul Walton, and today provides services nationwide to businesses in everything from home interiors and gifting to bars to a fried chicken truck.

Other developments over the past year saw iZettle support UK entrepreneurs with primetime TV ad slots, as well as raise a €60m Series D. The capital was secured in order to expand its offering with a lending division called iZettle Advance to help with companies’ cash flow.
