The vehicle firm will feature a code-cracking challenge in the Gorillaz app as part of its goal to hire 5,000 engineering recruits over the next year.
Those that manage to pass the test will be fast-tracked through the Jaguar Land Rover hiring procedure.
The company claims its unusual recruitment drive with Gorillaz, which was launched by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, has been developed to “tackle the engineering skills gap and inspire and attract a diverse range of talent and new thinking”.
It’s not the first time Jaguar Land Rover and Gorillaz have partnered though. Last year they teamed up for a STEM push, with female guitarist noodle named an ambassador.
The band member reprises her role once more, this time getting behind the recruitment drive.
“Can you crack the code? Put your skills to the test!! Hey, maybe you might land yourself *the* most BADASS job you can imagine. Dare to win!” she said.
Of course, Jaguar Land Rover isn’t your typical corporate firm. Recognising how disruptive growing companies can be, Real Business previously heard how the automotive giant has created an internal startup hub to forge ideas and innovation.
The Gorillaz app will feature the recruitment feature from today (Monday 19 June 2017), which comprises a 360-degree environment in a garage where the challenge is held.
Consisting of two parts, the first will concentrate on electric vehicles, assembling Jaguar Land Rover cars, while the second will be a code-cracking challenge that has more than 4,000 combinations. The idea is that this makes hiring more about skills than education.
Alex Heslop, head of electrical engineering, Jaguar Land Rover, added: “As the automotive industry transforms over the next decade, fuelled by software innovation, we have to attract the best talent and that requires a radical rethink of how we recruit.
“Here we’ve found an engaging way to recruit a diverse talent pool in software systems, cyber systems, app development and graphics performance. It will be the first of its kind.”
