Jenson Button spills the beans on Branson indiscretion

2 Mins

In an interview for GQ Magazine, Piers Morgan grills Formula One driver Jenson Button about Sir Richard Branson’s indiscretion with his 24-year-old girlfriend Jessica Michibata. Happily-married Virgin boss Branson was flying solo that night, although his daughter, Holly, also attended the party. Jenson, to his credit, does his best to avoid the issue but Morgan is not to be put off.

Here’s the story, straight from the horse’s mouth:

Piers Morgan: ‘That story suggested that you thought Mr Branson had made a charge on your girlfriend and you’d got rather angry about it.’

Jenson Button: ‘I think everyone just got very excited after I got pole for that first Grand Prix.’

Morgan: ‘Was his hug a little too long for your liking?’

Button: ‘It wasn’t a hug.’

Morgan: ‘A kiss?’

Button: ‘It was a couple of people who’d had too many drinks but there was no touching involved.’

Morgan. ‘Did you have to intervene?’

Button: ‘Of course.’

Morgan: ‘You were a gallant knight?’

Button: ‘Of course.’

Morgan: ‘Did you call him Sir Richard as you told him to back off?’

Button: ‘I can’t remember the exact words I used.’

Morgan: ‘It makes it sound like a Tudor-style duel. The randy, drunken, bearded knight makes a play for your wench, and you spring to defend her honour. Was he meek and apologetic afterwards?’

Button: ‘Oh yes, he was, definitely.’

Morgan: ‘He realised he’d slightly overstepped the mark?’

Button: ‘Yes, very much so. Don’t worry, he won’t be doing it again.’

Morgan: ‘What did he do to her?’

Button: ‘I’m not going to say. I was the gentleman at the table. Let’s just leave it there shall we?’
