After a diploma in accounting and four years as an Ernst & Young trainee, Karan Bilimoria’s first venture was selling polo sticks from India to retailers in the UK. “I was going in with no experience and no money and my family didn’t support me.” He was educated, they said, he didn’t need to be a wheeler-dealer.
