Mark Pearson’s MyVoucherCodes
is stepping up its customer offering by launching a localised discount website
and mobile phone application. Mark Pearson, who is up for Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Growing Business Awards on Thursday, has taken MyVoucherCodes to the next step by going local. MyVoucherCodes’ GPS-enabled mobile app will show consumers all the current discounts and promotions at independent shops in the area. “The future of moneysaving is mobile – and here,” says Mark Pearson. “After launching MyVoucherCodes in 2006, we’ve seen hundreds of copycat websites follow our lead, and we’re again breaking the mould by offering a free-to-download, free-to-use discount application.” Giving a local twist to vouchers, the MyVoucherCodes app hopes to bridge the gap between national and local shops. “Of course, the service will only work if local businesses are willing to step out from behind the shadows and attempt something unprecedented. But for consumers, the service works just like the one in place on the main site. There’s no need to sign up or add any of your personal details to the site – you can literally search and go,” he explains. MyVoucherCodes is currently in the process of getting local businesses signed up to the site. Mark Pearson hopes that the local app will increase consumers’ awareness of local retailers, which are sometimes overlooked by shoppers. “We have a proven track record of saving money for consumers at more national, well known retailers and businesses and there is no doubt that we can now emulate that success,” adds Mark Pearson. Although MyVoucherCodes isn’t the first voucher codes business to create a mobile app – indeed, the app VoucherCloud has successfully existed for some time – the MyVoucherCodes local app is certain to create a stir.
