In business, finding answers to everyday problems is the nirvana. If you can turn solutions into a cost effective proposition you’re often onto a winner. And that’s exactly what MendIT has done.

At present the experience for businesses and individuals suffering from issues like a damaged laptop or smashed smartphone screen is an exasperating one. Resellers have an angry customer on their hands, who in turn suffers from lengthy turnaround times. The whole process is a headache for all concerned.

What MendIT has done is to completely turn this messy business into a slick and pain-free operation for both IT resellers and their end users. Having previously seen these issues at close quarters as the boss of an award-winning reseller, IT entrepreneur and founder Steve Ackers came up with an idea that could revolutionise the system of repairs and warranties in a way that makes life easier for the reseller channel and their customers.

But it’s how the company operates which makes the whole operation genius.

Before launch, MendIT gained the necessary accreditations needed to carry out repairs for most of the major manufacturers and, at the same time, added the backing of the insurance sector to cover the costs of repairs. The business has its own team of highly trained specialist in-house repair engineers that carry out the work. This combination not only places MendIT in a unique position in the UK but creates significant barriers to entry for anyone thinking of emulating their success.

MendIT has achieved phenomenal growth. From a standing start in 2011 it has doubled turnover year on year and is on course for £2.5m in 2014-15. At the same time it has become an established brand in its sector. The company also already boasts 170 and counting of the UK’s IT resellers as customers and is sold by eight of the UK’s top ten resellers.

According to the company, this growth did not come easy. “Internally a number of processes were initiated and evolved to make things like product registration user-friendly. Externally building the brand from scratch and establishing MendIT as a credible option in the sector has also taken time and energy.”

But it’s paying off and with exciting plans to widen the scope, MendIT could very well be destined to become a household name in no time.

It even holds the coveted title of UK’s number one computer repair specialist.
