I have read multiple books, bought as I travelled, digested in mid-air and applied when back on the ground. Often the simplest, shortest books are of highest value.
The stories Ken Blanchard tells are easy to understand and powerful in their simplicity making him my favourite business guru.
Blanchard is recognised as one of the world’s most prolific leadership and management authors. In my opinion, his best title is The One Minute Manager (1982).
Astute business owners will always recognize the importance of harnessing brilliance in all people through the right kind of caring and inspirational leadership; the approach Blanchard encapsulates in The One Minute Manager should be a lesson for us all.
How Ken Blanchard has influenced my business
Blanchard’s approach and the way he engages people through storytelling was a priceless learning for my somewhat over-direct previous approaches.
Learning to authentically care and invest time and interest in employees and colleagues always pays back.
Following Blanchard’s vision, I always make sure I make time for my team; this has become an imperative part of my working life.
Lara Morgan contributed to “Business Gurus”, a new book published by Crimson Publishing this month which describes entrepreneurs’ business heroes.
