Every year, the New Year Honours list recognises outstanding achievement and service. What entrepreneurs were honoured by the Queen in the New Year Honours this year? Industry and the economy made up 14 per cent of the New Year Honours this year. Here are some of the more notable business people and entrepreneurs to be honoured in the New Year Honours: Knighthoods (KBE)Richard Lambert, the outgoing director-general of the CBI, is to receive a knighthood for services to business. Roger Carr, chairman of Centrica ? and the new president of the CBI, to replace Helen Alexander later this year ? was also awarded a knighthood for services to business. CBEFarah Ramzan Golant, the executive chairman of ad agency BBDO, received a CBE for services to the advertising industry. Farah Ramzan Golant won the ?Business Woman of the Year? award at the?Real Business?Asian Women of Achievement Awards last year. Raymond Kelvin, founder and CEO of Ted Baker, was also awarded a CBE, for services to the fashion industry. Hamish Ogston, the serial entrepreneur and founder of CPP Group ? the life assistance company ? was awarded a CBE for services to business and to the community in York. David Frost, the director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce, was also the recipient of a CBE for services to business. OBEMargaret and Mark Constantine, the co-founders of Lush, also received an OBE for services to the beauty industry. From humble beginnings in a shed in their garden, the business has become a household name, with more than 600 stores in 43 countries. Dinah Bennett, the director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at Durham University, and founder of ?Women into the Network? – which promotes female entrepreneurship ? was awarded an OBE for services to women’s entrepreneurship in the North East. MBERob Law, the founder of Magmatic ? more famous for its Trunki brand ? was awarded an MBE for services to business.
