Name: Paul Lindley

Age: 44

Company: Ella’s Kitchen

Turnover: £31m

First job: Trainee chartered accountant

Dream job: Chairman of Virgin Group

Car: Jaguar XKR

Economy, business or first class: I’ve travelled all three (and Concorde!)

Most extravagant purchase: My Panarai watch. I love, love, love it.

Most-played song on your iPod: Mary J Blige’s version of “One”.

Best business book: Marketing Judo by Richard Richardson of Harry Ramsden fame.

Worst business moment: Effecting a product recall

Proudest business moment: The launch of Ella’s Kitchen –  January 22, 2006. I’ll never forget seeing my daughter’s face on each of our products, stocked on the shelves of 350 Sainsbury stores. The dream was now a reality.

Your business mentor: Richard Branson would be true but too obvious. I would love to have met George Cadbury or John Spedan Lewis – both sons of founders who transformed their businesses into unique companies 100 years ahead of their time.

Next big thing: Electric cars, alternative fuels, solar panels.

Paul Lindley is a speaker at the MADE Entrepreneur Festival

Ella’s Kitchen scooped the Customer Excellence gong at our Growing Business Awards in 2009. Want to enter this year’s event? Visit the Growing Business Awards website.
