Queen of Shops launches retail masterclass

Against the backdrop of tight economic trading conditions – and with the BBC receiving over 6,500 applications from independent retailers desperate to feature on the current series of Mary Queen of Shops – Mary Portas says her guide to successful retailing is aimed at “helping small retailers compete against the massive highstreet”.

The retail sector makes a massive contribution to the British economy, employing one in nine of all UK workers. There are 297,850 retail outlets across the country with approximately £321bn spent through the tills every year. 

Mary Portas’s series of seven master classes, run in asscoiation with the National Skills Academy, will cover everything from brand development and buying the right merchandise to customer service and balancing the books. For dates and locations, click here.
