If anyone understands the need of a quiet space for meetings outside of the office, then it’s the boss of InMyBag, a company which provides special insurance for freelancers and mobile professionals. He tells Real Business about two gems more bosses should think to visit.
“At InMyBag we protect the sort of people who carry their businesses in their bags,” explained Iain Harper, the startup’s CEO. “So I’m always out and about meeting people. My laptop and phone are the hubs of everything I do. And for those looking for great places outside work I highly recommend the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank.”
Of course, the Royal Festival Hall boasts an amazing stage that has hosted concerts, big conferences and weddings alike. But the venue has far more to offer, namely more than one small space for meetings.
“It’s a huge rabbit warren of a place with lots of quiet spaces where you can tuck yourself away and work,” Harper added. “It’s great for meetings and in the summer you can try to bag a table on one of the balconies that overlook the Thames.
“Membership is one of London’s best deals, it only costs £60 and gets you access to the members’ area on the top floor as well as the chance to book early for the many amazing events they hold.”
“Another favourite of mine is Green Rooms in Wood Green. It’s right by the tube and only 20 minutes from central London. They’ve converted a beautiful old building into a hotel, event spaces and cafe. It’s an incredible place and offers discounts for artists. Wood Green is still pretty ‘real’ so it feels slightly incongruous. It’s a great to while away a few hours and catch up with people.
“They have a brilliant scheme where they invite up and coming chefs to do a six-month residence so the food is always amazing.”
Why not give his recommendations a try next time you’re looking for a meeting spot?
