The Apple Watch has named been a top luxury item, but there is no question that Apple is a technology firm. With the new Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch, however, the brand has eagerly highlighted the device has been built with “over 150 years of expertise, savoir-faire and heritage”.
The Swiss watchmaker said that it was a natural progression to eventually introduced a precious metal and classic design to the Tag Heuer Connected line, which it has done with the £7,500 rose gold model.
The goal was to produce “a luxury watch that combined connectivity and computing intelligence with Swiss watchmaking heritage”, thus Intel and Google developed the latest smartwatch in partnership with Tag Heuer.
The rose gold product is said to come with the same features as the original watch, but with “the elegance, characteristics and level of finish expected from a fine wristwatch”.
Intel was responsible for engineering the watch for optimised performance and connectivity, which includes streaming audio, WiFi and Bluetooth.
Google, meanwhile, provided the Android Wear operating system and a small microphone fitted to the device allows the user to communicate through Google Voice Control.[rb_inline_related]
Other features include 4GB of memory, battery power that supports a day of use, contactless charging, and sapphire crystal touchscreen. Elsewhere, the rose gold Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch comes with IP67-certification, which means it is dust and water-resistant.
The new Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch also comes with a two-year warranty, which is the real treat, according to the watchmaker.
“Anyone who purchases a TAG Heuer Connected watch will have the opportunity to exchange it for a mechanical watch with real Swiss movement inside,” said the company.
“At the end of the connected watch’s two-year warranty period, customers can go to the TAG Heuer store of his or her choice to exchange the TAG Heuer Connected watch for a mechanical Swiss Made Carrera watch.”
