Sandra McClumpha is the Scottish hairdresser-turned-entrepreneur who brought Fake Bake artificial tanning creams to Britain. She built the brand into a household name in the UK before acquiring Fake Bake’s American parent company in 2008 in a deal worth more than £10m. Now’s she’s tackling international markets including Australia, Russia and South Africa. Her advice to other budding entrepreneurs? “My mother always told me: ‘Never give up’. I had no business experience, so trying to convince the banks to give me money was very difficult. In the end, I had to go to England to find myself a female bank manager!
