Eagle Eye Solutions has announced it has secured £1.5m in a Series A round of funding, led by Sir Terry Leahy and City retail analysts Bill Currie and Iain McDonald.
Eagle Eye Solutions makes technology which enables retailers to issue and redeem mobile vouchers. The company will use the funding to expand its team and consolidate and grow its retail partnerships.
The addition of Sir Terry Leahy to Eagle Eye Solution’s board is quite a coup for the company. Sir Terry Leahy’s contacts in the retail space are unparalleled, and he will be able to open many doors for Eagle Eye Solutions.
Sir Terry Leahy says: “The retail industry is waking up to the huge opportunities that mobile marketing represents, and mobile coupons are a vital component. I look forward to playing a part in Eagle Eye Solutions’ positive impact on the market.”
The key to digital vouchers is the ability for retailers to redeem simply and securely, in real time and with the ability to track customer usage, Eagle Eye Solutions says.
Eagle Eye Solutions’ product allows retailers to do this via the chip and PIN pad, without any requirement for a big upgrade. The company already works with big names such as Comet, Blockbuster and Virgin Active.
“We’re delighted to have secured the backing of such experienced and high profile figures within the industry,” Eagle Eye Solutions CEO Steve Rothwell adds.
Eagle Eye Solutions looks like a great contender for our Growing Business Awards, held in November 2011. Nominations open on July 1 – find out more here.
