SMEs should practise what they preach

1 Mins

The research showed that SMEs have shown little enthusiasm to engage with local Further Education (FE) institutions owing to the fact that just 18 per cent associate them with vocational training.

Nearly two-thirds of small businesses hold the view that FE colleges can do their business no good and are therefore not taking advantage of the wide range of vocational courses and qualifications that these colleges can offer their employees. Unsurprisingly, such misconceptions are having a negative impact on their profitability and productivity.

Of the small businesses who have used an FE college, 87 per cent claim it has benefited their business, so it’s clear that SMEs need to abandon these prejudices.

Are you a small business that has benefited from the training offered by your local FE college? If so, we want to hear about it – post your comments below….
