Snow fuels online shopping

Sales at the discount voucher code website yesterday were 310 per cent higher than its average Monday sales, making it the busiest day online since the launch of the site two years ago (excluding Christmas).

Pearson says: “Online shopping has snowballed, with Monday proving to be the biggest day MyVoucherCodes has seen since Christmas when we enjoyed over 30 sales every minute.

“I attribute the record to the heaviest snowfall in 18 years, meaning that people were stuck in at home, as well as the fact that Monday  was National Sickie Day – the day when more people will call in ill than any other day of the year. Online shopping has benefitted because it can in no way be affected by the adverse weather conditions.”

Pearson started MyVoucherCodes just over two years ago. The site, which monitors and updates the new vouchers and discount codes every day, regularly achieves more than 8 million unique visitors per month. More than 500,000 people have now signed up to the company’s weekly newsletter as well.
