With the vast majority of people desperately trying to keep warm, fed and in some cases on the move, businesses associated with those acts are doing a handsome trade, according to this Sky News article.
Among those enjoying the festive weather are Dandy’s Topsoil, a family-run supplier of rock salt used to help motorists achieve grip on the roads.
Adam Dandy, the owner and great-great-grandson of the founder, told Sky News: "We’ve never seen levels of business like this.
“We’re a small family business established in 1826 and on Monday this week we saw our highest ever sales. On Tuesday we doubled that and we’re on track to do the same today."
Other firms enjoying the snow include Halfords, which has seen increased demand for emergency items such as torches, flasks and snow chains; and Debenhams, which reported a jump in sales of thermal underwear, fake-fur coats and, counter-intuitively, swimsuits.
