The FD verdict: Does the opinion of an FD matter at board level?

But just because FDs are increasingly developing a presence in executive-level, strategic decisions, it doesn’t mean those opinions are valued as highly as those coming from the CEO or Chairman.

That makes our poll for FDs this week: “Does the FDs opinion carry as much weight as the CEO and Chairman when it comes to strategic decision-making?”

While the CEO and Chairman’s very job is to look out for, and decide the future of, the company, no-one has the knowledge and access to financial data that the CFO has. 

Their voice should be heard, but is it?
