Apparently, the “cabbie-turned-salesman” is the next big thing in word-of-mouth advertising. Take 41-year-old cab driver Adrian Torlini, for example.
An ambassador for Taxi Promotions UK, he was flown to Bangkok for five days, all expenses paid, courtesy of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. All he had to do was chat to passengers about his “great experience”.
Reckon the trend will spread? We’re sceptical. Imagine if your taxi driver started waxing lyrical about Norwich Union’s home insurance. Or AOL’s broadband package. Frankly, you’d get out and take the bus.
