MacDonald Humfrey, which was formed to provide total turnkey system services to core industrial sectors, recently came seventh in the 2015 Sunday Times ranking list of UK private companies
, with a recorded three-year average profit growth of 111.32 per cent. Alongside Excel Automation, MacDonald Humfrey created EXMAC Automation, a joint venture that provided a comprehensive design, build, commissioning and installation service for major projects around the world. According to directors Gary Sweeny and Mick MacDonald, the combination of Excel’s experience in conveying and materials handling systems and MacDonald Humfrey’s position as a leading supplier of automation and control solutions, enabled EXMAC to successfully tender against major international competition. Emphasising the combined strengths of the joint venture, MacDonald said both companies were well established and profitable British businesses with world-class manufacturing facilities and combined resources including over 300 experienced staff.
Since the business was integrated into the MacDonald Humfrey Group, EXMAC now operates from it’s bespoke facility in Droitwich. Today, MacDonald Humfrey counts most UK airports as well as Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce as its customers. Its latest endeavour included supplying Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2 with 73 Mach-SmartLanes, Mach-SmartView and Mach-SEMS systems as part of the airport’s outbound security facilities. The company also opened an office in Singapore to cater to Asian demand. Some of Asia’s top airports have tested the company’s hi-tech passenger security screening, flight information and baggage handling systems.
