Essex-based Sewells Reservoir Construction (SRC) specialises in supporting clients with construction materials and waste management across the southeast and London.
In particular, owing to its location, the family-run operation has secured a number of significant partnerships across its home county of Essex.
2011 saw the company open a quarry in Ardleigh, which resulted in the production of sand and gravel for clients, aligning with equipment provider CDE global for the process and machinery support.
Two years later and the firm dramatically changed the way the business was run in order to stay ahead. SRC moved on from operating solely with contract drivers and hired vehicles by activating its first company fleet.
The decision came as commercial director Ollie Rees had been instrumental in powering company growth to see up to 50 vehicles in demand a day, thus six tippers were put into action.
Clint Layzell, who?s responsible for transport at SRC, said: ?When it came to selecting the tip gear, we were looking for the best value and long term reliability. Edbro came top of the list, borne out by previous experience. Payload is also a key factor and Edbro scores best in this area too.?
Further growth came along in March 2015 when the firm ordered ten new tipping vehicles for the fleet.
“While the majority of the work our trucks do is taking out aggregates, we also have to accommodate backloads that can be anything from muckaway to demolition materials,” Layzell noted.
He added that the fleet was busier than ever, thus ?reliability and performance are everything.” The busy period has seen the company achieve a CAGR of 52.98 per cent and a turnover of ?12.6m.
