1 Mins

Had a spate of graffiti writing in gents a little while ago that became so unkind in content that two of line managers were kind enough to wash down walls in their spare time before most of us got to see it. Despite all warnings, it has started again. Spent deeply unpleasant few hours seeing each member of staff individually, pointing out that anyone confessing honestly behind closed doors would be treated easily but should it progress past this session two things would happen: we would be looking into obtaining handwriting analysis in which case culprits would be sacked on spot and cost deducted from pay; and secondly that in the meantime, various steps would be taken against whole staff to encourage those who clearly know who is responsible to force the individuals one way or another to confess or disappear.

Asked for suggestions as to steps against whole staff and received wide range from deductions for cleaners, video cameras in gents, to individual strip searches prior to use carried out by myself (extremely nasty thought, bless them!). Sadly, there were only very minor confessions including one young lad who admitted writing something once “when the pen was left there ‘cos that was just too tempting”. Any people wonder why I find running this business an uphill battle somedays?!
