The sales office is generally flat-out busy with quotes, too, which augers well for the year ahead. Should really be feeling ecstatic – there must be many companies who would give their absolute eye teeth to be in our position. Shop floor should be buzzing with excitement; less than two months ago, we were doing our restructuring and six people lost their jobs as a result. With the management beset by personal problems including one foot in air and definitely combined with exhaustion, in fairness, the blame for the lethargic complacency of the shop floor could probably be placed fairly and squarely at the top. The endless biggest battle, though, is how small business managers cope with the work-life balance with any efficiency and accuracy… I wonder if any one of us will solve that one!
