Very early start seems only answer as felt I got nowhere yesterday. Having someone hugely competent in customer service is wonderful but with her in place and right hand/head of sales back, was time to open can of worms in that department to find all fears materialised.
Newish guy in that job clearly not been coping for a while and made fatal error of assuring everyone he was fine with resultant massive mess of unhappy and un-dealt with clients and problems. Also clearing backlog left by departing bought ledger person, who very kindly decided to pay all our suppliers early before leaving. Our bank account is now somewhat on depleted side; it’s not a long term problem but very irritating. Spent very early hours of morning mapping out new training programmes in both departments to put things in order as quickly as possible – one each for me and right hand to carry out, and generally have to admit to feeling somewhat back in control if knackered.
Now have to peel off to excitements of local Chamber of Commerce annual lunch where am guest speaker. Feel slightly hot under collar about this as never attend any of their dos, which may not make my audience instantly receptive! Definitely feel would be wiser to stay away from anything too political – though felt uninspired and unsurprised by general lethargy in elections last week in any case. Businesses really do seem to have to rise above politicians and economists at the moment in order to survive.
