UK enterprise app firm Mubaloo acquired by New York marketing agency IPG Mediabrands

British enterprise app consultancy and developer Mubaloo has been acquired by New York-headquartered IPG Mediabrands, as the consumer-facing marketing agency expands into the growing enterprise mobility sector.
The past 12 months have been significant for Bristol-headquartered Mubaloo, having been named in Real Business’ Everline Future 50 initiative in March 2015.
It was recognised for providing companies with mobile solutions designed to deliver internal corporate enhancements such as productivity, which resulted in a 30 per cent revenue increase year-on-year. A couple of months later and a second female MD was introduced, growing leadership and diversity in the same move.
Seemingly 2016 looks to be another considerable year for Mubaloo, as its acquisition will see the business join IPG Mediabrands’ mobile division Ansible. The deal has been made to capitalise on the trend of CIOs and CMOs collaborating internally.
IPG, which has almost 50,000 employees working across consumer ads, digital marketing, communications planning and PR, will gain full power to deliver a vast range of mobile programmes. These will include user experience, responsive sites, native apps, the Internet of Things, beacons and more – all of which are set to drive profits.

Jason Carter, chief digital officer, EMEA, IPG, said: “Mobile is clearly the future of communication and the biggest opportunity for marketers. However, we saw that consumers are way ahead of brands in this space and realised that we needed to assist our clients to move beyond just mobile media.
“This move helps them to develop all aspects of mobile marketing and fully leverage the opportunities that connected consumers represent.”
In addition to scaling the range of services offered, Mubaloo will provide IPG’s Ansible with a solid footprint in the UK with both Bristol and London offices, amid plans to open six new Ansible offices globally in the coming months.
Mubaloo’s founder Mark Mason highlighted the company’s growth over the past six years and how it worked to “dramatically improve operations” of clients, which include Hargreaves Landsdown, Samsung, Haymarket and more.
He said: “As apps have come to dominate mobile usage, IPG Mediabrands identified the need to have the best consultancy, app design and development talent. By joining forces with them, Mubaloo is able to expand globally and offer mobile transformation to IPG Mediabrands’ prestigious client base.”
