The winning team of developers will create an online network for small businesses with funding from O2 at an undisclosed monthly rate. At the end of 12 months, O2 says it will decide whether to buy the website outright for up to £1m. ‘The O2 Incubabtor Project’ will focus on entrepreneurs and small businesses and development teams are being asked to consider what this group of people need from a network. The initiative will be headed by Paul Golding, an innovation architect specialising in the creation of new business and product strategies for mobile and internet products and services. "We are looking for the best web developers around to apply them to solving challenges that small businesses face. We want to find the best developers to help small businesses in their everyday challenges and what is required of them to grow into successful organisations," said Golding. "This is O2 stepping out the way, so that the best web developers can be the ones developing the most innovative web solutions out there, but having the resource and backing to achieve this."
