1 Mins

Having decided that honesty is definitely best policy and written at length to prospective applicant for sales office, explaining pros and cons of both jobs and reasons why it would be impossible to offer more suitable (personality and skills wise) job on shorter hours to suit.

Have found, to my disappointment, that she has not had manners to even reply as promised by this morning.

Feel this is final nail in coffin as far as we are all concerned and confirmation that the vague niggle in back of all our minds was right. Still can’t pin down what the problem was as appeared to be perfect applicant but certainly don’t appreciate being messed around and know it is wise to quit while ahead. Brings me back to other applicants still in running and am now looking to see what would be the perfectly balanced team.

To add two new to a team of three is definitely going to take a certain skill and must, must, must make decision by end of day. Meanwhile, am pushing on with HR initiatives as agreed under new plan and writing very upbeat internal newsletter with one hand and mini biographies of staff for website with other.

Slightly worried that bios are coming out like profiles on a bad dating site but at least project has received considerable interest from staff themselves so have achieved main aim.
