Who will be Asian Women of Achievement winners?

1 Mins

Hosted by founder Pinky Lilani OBE and patrons Cherie Blair and Princess Zahra Aga Kham, and attended by VIPs from across the Asian business community and beyond, the Asian Women of Achievement Awards (held on Wednesday May 19, 2010) recognise Asian women changing the face of Britain – from high-profile celebrities and corporate high-fliers to unsung entrepreneurs and social and humanitarian workers.

Real Business is proud to host the event, and we’ll be watching the Entrepreneur of the Year category with particular interest.

In the running are:

  • Shazia Awan, director, Peachy Pink
  • Jayshree Davé, founder & director, Pipaltree
  • Farnaz Khan, managing director, eResponse Media
  • Angela Malik, chef & patron, The Angela Malik School of Food and Wine
  • Geeta Sidhu-Robb, founder, Nosh Detox

Interestingly, both Awan and Sidhu-Robb were candidates in the recent general election (as was Emily Benn, who’s also shortlisted tonight).

The shortlists feature some amazing women, from Chief Inspector Shindo Barquer (the highest-ranking Asian woman in the UK police force) to Shazia Mirza, the barnstorming female comedian. The Business Woman category also looks to be hotly contested, with candidates from the worlds of advertising, venture capital, software and accountancy.

The Asian Women of Achievement Awards are held in association with Lloyds Banking Group and other stellar supporters. Watch out for the results tomorrow.
