An instant noodle startup has announced it has hit its £1.75m funding target on crowdfunding platform, Seedrs. The contemporary Asian food company, Mr Lee’s Pure Foods, generated funding on crowdfunding platform Seedrs and has reached their target funding amount in just 5 days. This takes their total investment raised on Seedrs to £6.5m, with their latest campaign continuing into overfunding. In their latest round of investment, the brand has so far attracted 220 investors from its loyal customer base in addition to receiving significant backing from global food industry investor, Henry Soesanto and vegetarian “meat-free” giant, Quorn. The inspiration for the brand’s standout product, ‘gourmet noodles’ comes from an active gap in the market for “healthier snack” alternatives that are gluten and GMO free. The “wellness food” movement is an industry that has seen tremendous growth in the past five years. In 2019, the ‘free-from; market was estimated at £934m in the UK, a figure that is only set to rise due to an increasingly large number of people moving to vegan and gluten-free lifestyles. Damien Lee, Founder and CEO of Mr Lee’s Pure Foods says, “We are delighted by the huge support we’ve experienced so far in this funding round. It demonstrates that now, more than ever, there’s a clear demand for convenient, healthy and delicious noodles. We look forward to welcoming our new investors on our journey into our next exciting phase of growth.”
