There are two entrepreneurial opportunities up for grabs with the new Village SOS scheme. The BBC and Big Lottery fund is searching for six UK villages with a great business idea that will bring new life to their community. The best ideas will receive funding of up to £400,000 each from the Big Lottery Fund.
The six successful village teams will be chosen in May 2010 when filming for a major BBC One Village SOS series will start. The Village SOS programme is due to air in winter 2010 and will follow the new enterprises from start-up to trading.
For individual entrepreneurs, there’s also the opportunity to become a Village Champion. Village Champions will be paid £30,000 to take part in an initiative that will involve relocating to a village for a year and being filmed for a primetime BBC TV Series.
The closing date to apply for the Village Champion role is Friday 14 August.
