FD’s Excellence Awards: Lloyd’s Bank, Scottish Widows and Intuit Quickbooks standout amongst winners

The 2018 Awards were presented during a three-course lunch at this year’s FD Surgery in London, hosted in the grandiose building of the Royal College of Physicians, overlooking the scenic Regent’s Park on 1 May.

Now in its fourteenth year, the FD Surgery is a unique event bringing together the entrepreneurial financial directors of smaller businesses those who often perform more than one vital role in the overall running of their firm.

Upholding its tradition of recognising the most talented and valued financial directors and companies in the UK, this year’s Awards featured nine categories including international FD of the year, young finance professional of the year and business bank of the year, amongst others.

Hosted by Chas Howes, former CFO at high street clothing retailer Superdry, FD’s Excellence Awards 2018 was sponsored by CreditSquare and Worldfirst, as well as Astonlark, Benefex, SAP Concur, Institute of Directors, Lloyds Bank, Neyber, and Real Business.

As the Awards began, Howes reminded the room full of FD Surgery delegates that these shortlists have been devised on the back of the FDs” Satisfaction Survey, and so are based on the views of more than 1,800 finance directors.

Amongst this year’s winners were Mike Reid of Balhousie Care Group, who won in the category for private company FD of the year for larger businesses, and Jim Campbell from Ink, who picked up the gong for private equity-backed FD of the year.

Elsewhere, BDO, Intuit Quickbooks, Lloyds Banking Group, LOVESPACE, Mazars and Scottish Widows were all winning companies in their respective categories on the day.
